1. Intense red. If your rule has this color it means that your body is working correctly. However, if you notice that your period lasts more than a week with that intense red, you should consult a gynecologist.
2. Black or brown. There is no need to worry. When blood ages it is totally normal for it to darken since when it mixes with the air it dries.
3. Light red or pinkish. If you notice this color at the beginning of the period, it means that the menstrual blood is thin and mixed with the vaginal discharge. However, if you notice that the blood is very clear throughout the cycle, it may be a sign of a low estrogen level, some hormonal imbalance or that the body is preparing for menopause.
4. Pale pink and whitish. If the color of your period is very light, almost white, it is probably because the blood is very thin and mixed with the vaginal discharge. If this color persists during the period, it may be due to a low iron level. If you even have a balanced diet, you notice that the color persists, talk to a doctor to suggest a suitable eating plan.
5. Orange. This color can be caused by mixing of blood with cervical discharge, so it is considered normal. If you notice other unusual symptoms such as burning, itching or a very unpleasant odor, you should see a gynecologist to rule out a possible infection.
6. Greyish. If your period is gray with red streaks, this is usually not a good sign. This bleeding is experienced by many women when they have a miscarriage. Therefore, if you are pregnant, you should see a doctor immediately. If, on the other hand, you are not, it is possible that this color is due to some type of infection caused by a sexually transmitted disease, so you should go to the doctor to be treated properly.
Menstruation often masks infections, so keep an eye out for other possible textures or shades of vaginal discharge.
Orange-red or yellowish
Vaginal discharge, which is not normal blood, is orange or yellowish in color, can be a sign of infection. If they also have a strong "fishy" odor, it is advisable to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Grayish secretions
If there are grayish spots with red streaks, perhaps you were pregnant and suffering a miscarriage, so it is advisable to go to the gynecologist or the emergency service of a health center. But if there is no pregnancy, secretions of this color can be indicative of sexually transmitted diseases.
Clots
It is very common for women to perceive that they pass clots. In principle, there is no reason to worry especially if they occur sporadically in the first days of the period. But if they are very numerous, it may be a symptom of some hormonal alteration, or the formation of myomas or endometrial polyps. In this case, it is advisable to consult your gynecologist.
Lumps
If lumps with a fibrous texture are perceived, it is endometrial tissue, since, as we have commented, with the rule that the inner layer of the uterus is detached.
